Joint inflammation: Fighting the "irritable hip"

"Irritable hip" of children has nothing to do with coryza or influenza. It is a joint inflammation - called "coxite" by doctors - which leads to lameness. It usually occurs in children between 3 and 10 years.

Today, its origin remains unclear. Experts suggest the Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) or the role of viruses. But it's known that there is a seasonal exacerbation in winter and spring. The irritable hip is not accompanied by fever, or radiographic evidence in individuals.

To fix the child limiting its activity is the only way to overcome it. With drugs such as aspirin or paracetamol, the pain will give way in a few days. As for healing, it will be achieved in a few weeks without sequelae.

The irritable hip is neither serious nor alarming. However, parents must be vigilant because a kid who starts to limp for no apparent reason may have something else.

They must see a doctor as soon as possible. The doctor can find out whether it is a trauma or an infection consequences.
