Getting slim with chewing gum?
According to a study by researchers at the University of Rhode Island, at the annual scientific meeting of the Obesity Society, patients who chewed gum during the morning consumed 68 fewer calories during the noon meal.
The same patients who consumed fewer calories than usual during their lunch did not feel hungry and had no further compensation by increasing their intake of calories during the day.
When these people chew gum, they say they feel less hungry, according to this study. When patients chewed chewing gum before eating, energy expenditure was higher by about 5%.
Those who participated in the study have also said that the chewing gum made them less tired.
Chewing gum for at least an hour a day may reduce the rate of calories by 62 calories per half-day, according to this study.
