The British pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) said Friday that the results of the second clinical trial of its vaccine against influenza H1N1 confirmed that it was effective from the first dose, as the had already shown the first test.

This second clinical trial conducted in Belgium with 130 people between 18 and 60, "demonstrates that a single dose of vaccine may provoke a strong immune response, exceeding the criteria set by international health authorities, "GSK said in a statement, as he had already indicated last month, according to the results of the first test.

The second test also confirmed that GSK's adjuvanted vaccine, marketed under the brand Pandemrix, is generally well tolerated, " the group added.

As stated GSK, Pandemrix was permitted in 27 countries of the European Union in late September. The European Medicines Agency has recommended, however, vaccination in two doses three weeks apart, but said it could revise the recommendation based on new clinical data.

The group says more than seven million doses have already been shipped during the first week of delivery.
