Work kills
Work is health, if not to be zealous. According to a study published in the European Heart Journal, three hours longer than 7 or 8 hours daily considered a normal activity and the risk of developing heart problems increases 60%.
Believe it or not, but the investigation has been conducted on officials in London. And on more than 6,000 subjects, men and women aged 39-61 years followed over 11 years, 369 died from heart disease, had a nonfatal heart attack or angina.
According to the study, those who tend to work harder than normal are more men, younger than the group average, occupying more important responsibilities. What about tobacco, obesity, usually set in question? "The link between long hours and cardiovascular disease is independent of a set of risk factors measured at baseline, officials said.
The extra work could affect metabolism or hide depression, anxiety or lack of sleep, scientists believe. The "presenteeism sickly" antithesis of absenteeism of employees grows to work even when they are sick, ignorant of the symptoms and failing to consult a physician, may also be involved.
Another track, "chronic stress (often associated with long hours of work) negatively affects the body," suggests Marianna Virtanen who participated in the study. It appears that those who love their work and tend to work more just for fun may have a lower risk of heart disease.
