Retirement is health!
The study published in the British medical journal The Lancet, was conducted on 14,000 people, 7 years before and 7 years after their retirement.
These people rated their health status from 1 (very good) to 7 (very bad) annually.
Results. During the years preceding retirement, the proportion of people reporting ill health continues to increase, reaching 20% of respondents.
This trend reversed abruptly at the time of retirement, to represent more than 14% after one year following termination of employment. On average, subjects found then the condition that they reported 8 to 10 years earlier.
This improvement was seen among both men and women, all occupational categories combined. And they are - logically - the persons subjected to adverse working conditions (high psychological and physical demand, job dissatisfaction) who feel the greatest benefit.
